I just read an interesting article that really reinforced my thoughts about real estate agents.
Most Real Estate Agents are doomed to fail! WHY?
Your choice to start a Real Estate career has to be treated like nothing you probably have done before. Your Real Estate career can NOT be treated just as a job. It is a BUSINESS!
Analyize what businesses do.
They Track Expenses (they track what marketing works and what doesn’t)
The Track Revenue (Where are they making money and what activities generate income)
They plan for the future by setting aside money for business and separate it from personal money)
They research new ways to do their business and are not afraid to take calculated risks.
Too many agents treat Real Estate as another job instead of a business. I am amazed at how many do not spend any marketing dollars and worse yet, have no idea whether marketing dollars they do spend is actually generating leads.
Here is a quote from the article I read written by Jim Crawford in Atlanta Ga. “There are times where we have many months of no closings, followed by a great month where just about everything we earn is due on maxed out credit cards, estimated taxes, catching up on bills. For survivors in the industry, success has always been built on common sense. Having separate charge accounts for personal life and business, for keeping a set of books to see profit and loss, keeping spending in control, placing funds aside for taxes and expenses and most importantly lead generation.”

We all agree….It’s a Great Time to Buy (or refinance). Home prices are great, interest rates are great, inventory is great, and we have an $8,000 Federal Tax Credit to First Time Homebuyers. Having said that, many consumers still lack the necessary confidence to step into the home buying or refinance process! So, Real Living introduced the Peace of Mind Plan to give buyer’s the added confidence and comfort they need to jump back into the market.
